About the event
Teens in Trouble front woman Lizzie Trouble (previously of The Glowing Stars and Sputterdoll) is on the road doing a solo tour and providing us an intimate and stripped down look at her bands debut album, out now on Asian Man Records.
Teens in Trouble refracts the sounds of punk, garage, and dream-pop through a prism of memory, melding past and present with the kind of sun-dappled clarity that can only come from hindsight. Armed with huge guitars, catchy hooks, and disarmingly direct lyricism, Teens in Trouble plays brisk punk-rock that nods to the fuzzed-out, surf-influenced sounds of ‘90s alt-rock idols Weezer and Pixies and ‘60s garage-rock, but is equally informed by Trouble’s own years of youth in revolt.
Also on tour with Lizzie is one third of Florida's The Pauses, Tierney Tough!
As recently described on The Brooklyn Vegan, "The Pauses singer/multi-instrumentalist Tierney Tough is releasing her debut solo EP, A Farce To Reckon With, on July 9. It was co-produced by Jim Dreffen and mixed by frequent Pauses collaborator J. Robbins of Jawbox, and it includes two original songs and a cover of The Zombies' Odessey and Oracle classic "Friends of Mine" with help from Cursive's Patrick Newbery and Shawn Alpay (Laura Stevenson, Matt Pond PA, How To Dress Well)."
"We're premiering lead single "Apartment 54," which is a little cleaner than The Pauses and relies more on acoustic pianos than distorted guitars and buzzing synths, but it's still in that same realm of catchy, quirky indie rock" says Teirney.
